The Federal Minister for Communications and the Arts, Senator the Hon Mitch Fifield has launched a community IOT network at Barangaroo precinct in Sydney. The LoRaWAN based network is a parntnership between KPMG, the IoT Alliance Australia (IoTAA), Meshed, and International Towers Barangaroo. Operating 915MHz, the gateway will have a 3-5km radius and support up to 1000 IoT devices for free. It is "intended to help local companies, agencies, institutions and students to get on the IoT journey easily and learn by doing”.
